What do you do when you get sick or are in pain? You probably visit the doctor as most people do. This is not a bad thing, of course. However, it’s not always the best thing.

Think about it: the doctor probably runs some tests and puts you on some form of medication. In some cases, this medicine can help, especially if you have an infection and you are given an antibiotic.

In other cases, though, the medication is nothing more than a Bandaid. It typically does not address the root cause, which is what must be done to reduce or eradicate symptoms.

What Are the Root Causes of Sickness and Pain?

It may seem odd, but most issues in the body come from a lack of general care. For instance, not getting enough fluids can dehydrate your muscles and spinal discs, and mucosal membranes. It can also lead to pain, headaches, and even a build-up of toxins in the body.

Not eating a balanced diet means not giving your body the nutrients it needs to function properly, fight off sickness, and more. Not sleeping well or exercising can also lead to a wide range of issues, including but not limited to stress, headaches, diabetes, heart conditions, mental fatigue, and more.

How Does Holistic Health Help?

Holistic health is dedicated to treating the root cause of problems by treating the whole person. It is built around the belief that a person is made up of mind, body, and soul.

When these three areas are cared for and balanced, the body is able to function properly, heal itself, and fight off illness. Therefore, holistic health coaching is about helping you bring these three areas into a balance that supports your overall health.

How Does Holistic Health Coaching Work?

A holistic health coach starts with an understanding of you. They take the time to listen to your symptoms, of course. However, they use those symptoms as a way to dig in and determine what is really going on.

Once they have an understanding, they will help determine a plan that will push you toward your health goals. Depending on your needs, your plan can include everything from diet and exercise habits to counseling and stress relief.

Do keep in mind that holistic coaches don’t tell you to stay away from the doctor. In some cases, you may need medical or other forms of intervention. In other cases, they actually love to refer out to doctors. The idea of coaching is to help you achieve optimal health, and sometimes, that means a comprehensive plan with healthcare professionals.
